HP Magic

Our HP Magic Giveaway came to a conclusion last night, and, wow, we are calling this one a success, as we just got inundated with entries. We first need to thank everyone involved for entering and spreading the word on Twitter, Facebook, and the like. Of course, there can only be one - but if you feel a swerve coming, read on!

First, the winner was chosen randomly out of all valid entries. The person who came out on top of Ashe, with this comment. I’ve contacted him, he replied, and things are good.

Now, about that swerve. In the original contest, we mentioned that it would be awesome if the winner were to give some of those winnings away. After all, it’s the holiday season, and who really needs 3 notebooks, a desktop, and all that stuff? So, the cool thing here is that Ashe has decided to throw some items back into the pot, and he wants us to do a second giveaway! We will get it set up today, and will run it for another week. The winner will get the following:

That is not too shabby of a prize package right there. Wanna win it? Just head on over to our Gear Live Magic Giveaway page to enter.

Again, thanks to all entrants, and a big thank you to Ashe for giving back.

Frost/Nixon

Here are some possible suggestions for your upcoming weekend:

Last month, it was revealed that Beyonce was vying for a role in a possible Wonder Woman movie. Now Sean Combs is publicly stating his interest about playing another action star.

In Diddy Blog #35, the entrepreneur and aspiring actor debuted a six-minute long “movie” for one of his new fragrances. (Aren’t perfume commercials supposed to show someone rolling around nude in silk sheets?) During his presentation, Combs stated why he might soon change his name (once again) to 007:

“I feel like I am best suited to be the next . Okay, we got a black president..you know, it’s time for black Bond. So this is also my audition tape and it’s my the movie for the fragrance I Am King.”

Four Christmases

Theatergoers still recovering from Thanksgiving had no problem getting into the Christmas spirit this last weekend.

Despite horrible reviews, - a holiday feature starring Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn - managed to pull in over $31 million over the past three days. (The comedy’s five-day total was $46 million.) That was enough to tame some hungry vampires and give Reese her best opening since Sweet Home Alabama. (The 2002 film had a $35.6 million debut.)

But even with Witherspoon and Vaughn’s combined wattage, Christmases still wasn’t the brightest spot on the box office tree. This weekend’s top performer was actually a political drama with a very limited release. Although it was only seen in 35 theaters, , starring Sean Penn and James Franco, found itself sitting in 10th place. The Gus Van Sant film also averaged $40,385 per theater…nearly $31,000 more than the laugher did per screen.

Although she recently admitted that she wasn’t a fan of Sarah Jessica Parker’s HBO series (“I never liked Sex and the City, the kind of thing where women only feel empowered once they find the Man”), Jennifer Aniston somehow managed to find herself in a movie that came to life because of the show.

In , Aniston plays just one of several relationship-challenged characters in the ensemble piece. The film is an adaptation of the book written by Greg Behrendt and Liz Tucillo, two of SATC‘s former writers.

The romantic comedy - also starring Scarlett Johansson, Ginnifer Goodwin,  Kevin Connolly, Drew Barrymore, Ben Affleck, Justin Long and Bradley Cooper - will debut on February 6, 2009…just in time for Valentine’s Day.

Tom Cruise, ValkyrieThe long-anticipated, still-not-released WWII flick is already getting buzz on the award circuit. The Razzies are looking forward to featuring Cruise in their 2009 ceremonies.

Last year’s Razzie event ended with a series of stills from movies which are expected to be offered awards in the future. A shot of Tom Cruise in his Nazi uniform received a huge reaction from the audience. As the date of the movie’s release draws ever-nearer, Valkyrie is getting attention from reviewers as well.

“This is not his Oscar moment,” states one reviewer. Another calls a would-be intense scene “funny” - not at all what the flick is going for with its tense drama about a plot to murder Adolf Hitler.

Sarah Jessica Parker

“We need to figure this out in the next couple of months,” Sarah Jessica Parker recently told MTV News, discussing a possible timetable for the next movie. The actress hopes to start shooting the film next summer, saying “that’s when we’d start shooting to be out in 2010.”

“We’ve had very general conversations about the idea,” she said, saying “that’s the big hurdle: the idea.” But, apparently (and despite rumors), motherhood for Carrie isn’t on the agenda.
